How long must a person have practiced photography before they can consider themselves a photographer?

Mood: Meh.

As you can probably tell, I've recently started taking photos of things other than my friends. I know there's a lot of things wrong with my pictures from a technical standpoint, but I am trying to learn. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Edit: It appears that the thumbnails for my new photos aren't working. I have absolutely no idea why, or even if they are working for other people. Click through and have a look at the full images though.

Well, that's not all unfortunately. If it was, I'm pretty certain I'd be sorted. As it is, I also need someone to give a shit. As selfish as that sounds, it would be nice.
